Economy and Additions part Deux

Well, its official, the economy is sucking...  Here in the manufacturing sector we been suspecting someone pulled the plug but its now official, we're circling the drain.

The company I'm with has cut about 130 jobs from their U.S. operations in the past 2 months and we were pretty lean to start.  I've had to lay off 3 of my guys in the western US and my dealers have shed some jobs and some have cut hours (4 day work weeks) to stem some of the losses.

All we can do is hang on....

In the mean time I'm using my evenings to update products on my Cafepress site and review, edit and create new products with new images. It helps put the fiscal problems aside for a while.

Along those lines I added a few new t-shirts in a new section I'm building TeeZ by AgentZ

Also added some posters to my Prints & Posters section.

Check them out...

Fall Comfort Food

Started early today to make a slow cooker stew. Rolled beef in seasoned flour then browned it. Added chopped onions to the skillet and carmelized them them deglazed the pan. Added fresh baby carrots, sliced celery, and diced potatoes. Seasoned with garlic, fresh ground pepper, and kosher salt. Made the stock from beef broth, a couple of tablespoons of tomato paste, and a bottle of Sam Adams Octoberfest beer. Slow cooked for about 9 hours. Ummm ummm good!

And there's enough left over for our lunches tomorrow....

Gettin' out of town

Between sub $2 gas, the rain & holiday traffic this was the I5 heading north out of the city at about 12:30 yesterday. The normal 4 hour trip took 6.5 hours. The holiday travel season is officially open....

Saw this quote and thought of Sally.  Thought I'd use this to check out how my posterous account links to facebook so I know how this is going to work before I hit the road again.

Headin' Home

Its been a busy week. Started in Omaha on Monday, meetings all day Tuesday, headed for Elmira early Wednesday. Meetings Thursday from 0700 to 1800 then continued planning for 2009 over dinner. Up early Friday and out to drive to Buffalo to catch a flight.

Southwest broke the early arrival streak they had been on with recent flights and  bumped me to a Vegas flight because the Phoenix flight was delayed. Turns out the Vegas flight was delayed more than the Phoenix flight so they moved me back with a later connection out of Phoenix. However, in doing so I lost both of my prime boarding positions (A1 & A9). To make up they were quite generous as you can see in the photo ( I got to keep all my drink coupons - I'll use to 'em to spread the joy and make a new friend on another flight).

The other picture is downtown Chicago & Lake Michigan from. 39,000 feet.
